Maryanne Edmundson, PhD, is a neuropsychologist at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology with eight years of experience. She specializes in evaluating and supporting patients with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmune conditions.
Dr. Edmundson chose to work at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology because of its strong commitment to both patients and employees, with a shared goal of improving the lives of individuals living with neurological conditions and serving the broader community.
She chose neuropsychology to help patients better understand their cognitive abilities and to provide practical strategies to manage and adapt to cognitive challenges. Her work focuses on delivering clear answers and actionable tools that support independence and quality of life.
One patient experience that stands out involved helping a gentleman with severe traumatic brain injury navigate depression related to life changes and develop strategies to compensate for cognitive challenges. Through this work, he was able to successfully return to work, reinforcing the impact of personalized, supportive care.
Dr. Edmundson earned her PhD from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, and completed both her internship and postdoctoral training at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.
She is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, and the American Psychological Association.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as her cat, Meep Meep. Her hobbies include hula hooping, board games, and billiards. She also enjoys teaching others how to hula hoop and once had the unique opportunity to work with a circus.
Her approach to health emphasizes balance and consistency. She prioritizes sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management, and encourages patients to be proactive about their health, especially when it comes to brain health.
