Dr. Catalina Hooper, PhD, LP, is a neuropsychologist with over 10 years of experience, specializing in the evaluation and management of cognitive changes related to stroke, traumatic brain injury, and dementia.
Dr. Hooper chose to work at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology because of the opportunity to collaborate closely with neurologists and provide comprehensive care for patients experiencing cognitive changes. She values the ability to spend time with patients and families, helping them understand changes in thinking and memory while guiding next steps for care and improving quality of life.
She chose neuropsychology because of her longstanding interest in brain function and biology. Her work allows her to combine scientific understanding with patient care, solving complex diagnostic challenges and clearly communicating results in a way that patients and families can understand.
One of the most meaningful parts of her work is seeing patient progress over time. She has worked extensively in inpatient rehabilitation settings, where she supports patients early after stroke or brain injury. She has witnessed patients go from confusion and difficulty with daily tasks to returning to work and family responsibilities months later.
Dr. Hooper earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her PhD from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She completed her internship at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Benton Neuropsychology Lab at the University of Iowa.
She is affiliated with the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology.
Outside of work, Dr. Hooper enjoys spending time with her family, hiking in the Three Rivers parks, and traveling. At home, she enjoys baking and crafting with her daughter. She is also a certified scuba diver and enjoys knitting.
Her approach to health emphasizes staying active and connected. She enjoys exploring new hiking trails, cooking with fresh ingredients, and spending time with family and friends. She also values creativity as a way to reduce stress and maintain balance.
