Lyla Veen, MD’s educational journey commenced at St. Olaf College and continued at St. George University School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree. She then furthered her training through a residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, ensuring a solid foundation in neurology and sleep medicine.
Dr. Lyla Veen’s inclination towards neurology as her specialization was driven by her profound appreciation for the field’s complexity, characterized by a wide range of diagnoses that often require sensitive care and close follow-up with patients and their families. Meanwhile, her dedication to sleep medicine is grounded in her belief that sleep is the cornerstone of overall health and wellness, emphasizing the pivotal role of quality sleep in our well-being.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Veen has found great satisfaction in caring for patients with obstructive sleep apnea. She takes pride in being able to offer a non-pharmaceutical treatment option that can be genuinely life-saving for those affected by this condition. She emphasizes the power of the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) treatment, a noninvasive breathing therapy administered during sleep which is a vital solution in the management of sleep apnea.
Sharing quality time with her family is one of Dr. Veen’s greatest joys. Beyond her hours spent working closely with patients in the clinic, she is a proud parent to two active young children who are deeply engaged in their school and sports activities. When it comes to staying healthy, Dr. Veen places a strong emphasis on consistency and balance in her approach. She follows a well-structured health plan that has become a part of her daily routine. This commitment includes waking up early three to five times per week to exercise and having her own meal plans.
Lyla Veen, MD’s choice to work at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology stems from her strong belief in providing the highest level of quality care to patients. She is enthusiastic about being a part of a group that prioritizes close patient interaction, fosters effective communication regarding diagnoses, and strives to develop individualized treatment plans. This patient-centered approach aligns perfectly with her own care philosophy, and she is proud to be part of a team that shares this vision.
