Edward Labin MD vascular neurologist Minneapolis stroke neuromuscular medicine EMG

Edward Labin, M.D.

Specializing in:
Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neuromuscular Medicine

Dr. Edward Labin is a board-certified neurologist specializing in vascular neurology and neuromuscular medicine. He provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, with special interests in stroke care, neuromuscular disorders, electromyography (EMG), and transcranial Doppler ultrasound.

Dr. Labin chose to join the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology because of its outstanding reputation for providing exceptional neurological care. He values being part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered treatment.

He was drawn to neurology because it combines the intellectual challenge of solving complex medical problems with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. He enjoys helping patients and their families navigate neurological conditions with compassion, expertise, and the latest advances in care.

One patient experience that stands out involved a previously independent adult who suddenly lost the ability to speak and developed weakness on one side of the body. Because the patient’s family recognized the warning signs of stroke and sought emergency care quickly, Dr. Labin and the stroke team were able to rapidly diagnose a large blood vessel blockage and coordinate emergency treatment. After receiving clot-dissolving medication and an urgent procedure to restore blood flow, the patient regained strength and speech and was able to return home to family and daily life. Experiences like these reinforce the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms and seeking immediate medical attention.

Dr. Labin completed both his undergraduate education and medical degree at Indiana University before completing his neurology residency at the University of Minnesota. He is board certified and has been practicing since 2020.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Labin enjoys spending time with his family, playing chess, cycling, and exploring different hot sauces. A fun fact is that he can play the didgeridoo.

His philosophy on healthy living is refreshingly simple: follow the advice many of us heard growing up – eat well, stay active, and get enough sleep.
