Christopher Richardson MD headache specialist Minneapolis migraine neurologist

Christopher Richardson, M.D.

Specializing in:
General Neurology and Headache Medicine

Dr. Christopher Richardson is a neurologist with a subspecialty in headache medicine. He provides comprehensive care for patients with migraine and other headache disorders, combining the latest evidence-based treatments with individualized care to improve quality of life.

Having grown up in Minnesota, Dr. Richardson always knew he wanted to build his career in the Twin Cities. He chose the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology because of its commitment to safe, collaborative, and patient-centered care. He values the clinic’s supportive culture and enjoys working alongside a team dedicated to providing exceptional neurological care. He looks forward to serving the community he proudly calls home for many years to come.

Dr. Richardson chose neurology because of its constant opportunities for discovery and innovation. He is especially passionate about headache medicine, a field that has experienced remarkable advances in recent years. He enjoys helping patients benefit from newer therapies that can significantly reduce headache frequency, relieve pain, and improve everyday life.

One of the most rewarding parts of his work is seeing the life-changing impact that modern headache treatments can have. Many of his patients have lived with chronic pain for years before finding relief. Hearing patients say things like, “I can’t believe this is what life without pain feels like,” or “It’s like a veil has been lifted,” reminds him why he chose this specialty. He considers it a privilege to help patients regain their quality of life and confidence.

Dr. Richardson completed his undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, and completed his neurology residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed a UCNS-accredited fellowship in Headache Medicine.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Outside of work, Dr. Richardson enjoys spending time with his growing family, taking weekend trips to northern Minnesota lakes, going to the movies (especially for the popcorn), and cheering on Minnesota sports teams. He is also a self-taught amateur painter, although he jokes that his artwork is unlikely to end up in a museum.

His philosophy on healthy living is centered on balance and sustainability. He enjoys staying active by walking with his family, lifting weights, and running several times each week. He believes healthy habits should be enjoyable and realistic while still leaving room for an occasional slice of pizza or movie theater popcorn.
